You, saying, with that look of disdain, "Where is my princess cake?"

I don't think you want to share! Cindy, why so sad? Like Carol said, D-A-R-L-I-N-G.

Carol - LOL. Thank you! I wonder how many people were at that party given the size of the cake. I do have a rather grumpy little face in that photo. Actually, I still have that grumpy face on my birthday, but at least now I have a reason to be grumpy... ;)

Barbara - Knowing my mom, I probably had to wait to open my presents until everyone finished their cake and coffee. I don't remember that birthday, but I sure don't look happy. I think an attitude adjustment was in order. Let's just say I didn't suffer from a lack of presents...

I so needed a laugh today and you - or your former self - provided it. As to your present age - wear those years with pride, my friend!

The picture did remind me of our girl's birthdays which almost always ended with exhausted and overwhelmed tears until her father began his patented "expectations vs. reality" chats. It's a family mantra now - trotted out for holidays, weddings, baseball games - all the important moments of life.

Susan - You are so astute. I mainly got presents for my birthday and Christmas and small things like crayons and coloring books in between. I was so overexcited an overwhelmed nothing could live up to my expectations which probably explains the grumpy little face. Or maybe I was just grumpy... ;)
