(Almost) Wordless Wednesday: WWI Red Cross Volunteers

(Copyright (c) 2010 Cynthia Shenette) World War I Red Cross volunteers standing in front of St. Mary's Church (Our Lady of Czestochowa), in Worcester, MA. I recognize my grandmother, Antonina (Bulak) Szerejko and her sister, my great-aunt Helen Bulak in the photo. If you had an ancestor in the Worcester Polish community around 1918 take a look at the photo. You might see someone you know.

Cynthia, I didn't see an email, so I'm writing you here. I went to Tower Hill, and fell in love with it. I'm glad you told me about it, even tho I had just heard abt. it a month earlier.

Ooh! Dear to my heart. They look much more elegant with their armbands than we do today in our bibs. Lovely photo.

I am very interested in your blog. My Aunt Sister Mary Innocenta, I believe, went to St. Mary's and may be in this picture. She became a nun and head or her order in New Britain, Ct. She was born in 1906 and her name was Mary Prachniak. Supposedly her parents Walenty Prachniak and Petronella (Michaelowska) Prachniak were founding members of St. Mary's Church in Worcester.
