(Original Image and Text, Copyright (c) 2011 Cynthia Shenette) My grandmother, Antonina (Bulak) Szerejko. I don't have any information on the photo, but my guess is it was taken sometime in the early 1920s.
I love this photo, too! Neither of my grandparents worked for a photo studio, at least that I'm aware of. My grandmother was a seamstress. She undoubtedly made all of the beautiful dresses she is wearing in the photos. My grandparents were also in plays at their church, and my grandmother sang at church and with the local music festival chorus. I suspect some of the lovely clothes were for performances of one sort or another.
I have so many photos of my mom's family--boxes and boxes. My father's family is the exact opposite. I have practically nothing.
A long-time librarian, I am mostly of Polish, Acadian, and French-Canadian descent. I have started this blog to share and acquire genealogical knowledge, achieve inner peace, and perhaps realize my ultimate quest, to find two ancestors with the same surname who actually spelled their surnames exactly the same way...

Beautiful picture! I love her dress!
Beautiful photo, beautiful dress, beautiful woman. Stunning!
You have the most glamorous and exotic photos of your grandparents! What a beauty. I love the comb in her hair - and all that lace. Love it.
I agree with all of the comments above. You really do have exotic photos. Why so many pictures, did they work part-time in a photographer's studio?
Thank you all for your nice comments!
